…sorry, slightly out of breath as I have just being doing a celebratory dance around the office. Yes, you guessed it, the dreaded weigh-in day has arrived and with much trepidation I stepped on the scales earlier this morning. Well, after 2 weeks I have lost….. 6lbs! Oh yes, hurrah. Which is nothing short of amazing, as I haven’t felt like I’m dieting at all, which I’m not I guess, I’m making a permanent change to the way I eat.
However, even above the weightloss, which obviously makes me very, very happy, is the way I now feel. I am not totally worried about food and focused on what I am going to eat all the time. I don’t feel like I have to go on a massive binge, just in case there is no food there tomorrow….yeah, as if. In short I feel liberated. Now I know those are strong words and you may say it is early days – but I am going to carry on and see if I continue to feel the same and continue to lose the weight. What I have to avoid now is a constant stepping on and off the scales – just to see what is happening – so I will leave it now for another 2 weeks.
How is everyone else doing? I would love to hear of your progress.

Filed under: I Can Make You Thin, Paul McKenna

Well done you!
I’ve been listening to Paul McKenna for a while now and I know just what you mean about feeling more relaxed about food. Better still, every time I listen to it, I feel slightly stronger and happier with myself. Very comforting and very liberating.
I’m also following a Slimming World diet….taking no chances
and I’ve lost nearly a stone so far, using the combination of a good food plan and a great motivational tool.
I saw Paul McKenna on TLC last night. (the link to his site is down.) I am driven by curiosity to learn more about what he teaches. My mother was/is seriously overweight and I fear I may trek down the same road if I don’t do something soon. I weigh more now than I ever have before – not to say am over weight — but……. well, fix it now before it does become a problem?
Thank you for sharing your experiences!
I also watched TLC last night. I really liked the concept. I have been very over weight all my life, and have tried very diet and weight loss product out there , to the chagrin of my wallet. I do usually lose some , then it becomes boring and I go back to my original eating patterns. I tried this at both breakfast and lunch and to my surprise it really did work.. I left food on my plate!. I am going to continue to watch the program. Maybe this will work.
I like the show yesterday.i hope that can help me lose about 100 pounds. It’s been five years I am trying to lose weight but nothing is helping me.and from now on I will watch the programme every week.
I watched the show last night and I tried it today for breakfast lunch and dinner it worked I left food each time i was suprised.
I made pasta with shrimp. pasta my all time fav I would normally eat two bowls and go back for more later ,this time I didnt finish the first bowl. O will be watching every week as well.
I’m glad to hear that this is working for others, too. I was super curious about the show and watched it on TLC the other night. I really like his approach. His four rules are really common sense, but most people forget about them or get really confused after trying so many different diets.
As a biologist, I thought it would be helpful if he talked more about the science behind his suggestions. We’ll see in future episodes.
Anyway, I always eat pretty fast, and I always knew it wasn’t good. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to register that you’re full (seriously!), so that’s why he tells you to eat conciously (slower). Also, your stomach sends the Full signal in anticipation of you actually being full. that’s a way your body tries to prevent over-eating.
It was great that he said to eat what you want, just NOT in excess. Let’s say you really crave some sugar? It could be because your body is actually low on glucose (sugar). If you really crave fatty foods? Your body could be low on fatty acids.
Anyway, I also used his techniques for a couple of days so far and it feels great to see food left over that I would have normally scarfed down without thinking about it.
I am so excited to see this link. My husband and I watched on Sunday night too. We started eating “consciously” at dinner last night. I was blown away! Its was my son’s birthday, so I made his favorites – Chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese and creamed corn…not to mention the cake . I wouldn’t allow myself any of these things over the last few months that I have tried unsuccessfully to diet. I can’t believe that instead of wolfing down my plate and then going back for seconds on the mac and cheese (my favorite) I could only eat about 1/2 of what I put on my plate! My husband had the same experience. He eats so quickly most of the time that I’m left by myself to eat. Dinner for that last two nights has been great. We talk between bite. What a novel idea!
The other thing that surprises me is that – faced with a choice of eating anything I really wanted this morning, I found that what I really felt like having was a non-fat latte ( a given) and grapes. Now most mornings I find myself feeling deprived because I couldn’t have the muffins or chocolate donuts, I didn’t want that at all when given a “free pass.” Looking back I now realize that before I got pregnant and was thin, I rarely craved this kind of food anyway. Its only since I’ve struggled with weight that I’ve found that I seriously crave all this junk. What a break through. I really hope it lasts.
So for me, I am 40 and struggling to lose 30 pounds. I’ve tried all sorts of crazy stuff to lose weight and most everything has resulted in an initial (painfully obtained) loss, followed by gaining it all back when I couldn’t maintain the strict diets. My huband is 50 and needs to lose about 15 lbs. He has issues because he’s a very picky eater, so the idea of being able to lose weight but still eat the things you like is great for him.

I just surfed to your site since I have been listening to Paul as well. I am so much more happy! If I can follow it anyone can. The turning point came for me finally when my 13 year old daughter started to wear my clothing. I thought I think the whole family needs this! I have already lost 4 pounds, first time I looked at the scale!
I haven’t been able to access the tlc site either!
I watched the programme, and the part that stuck with me was imagining my favourite food, which at the time was Hershey’s kisses or chocolate bunnies (Easter time), covered in maggots. Well, I had one more Hershey’s kiss after that, and haven’t touched chocolate since. I don’t raid my little candy jar anymore. I don’t buy chips or nachos. I don’t want donuts. I eat fruit & veggies every day. I eat very little meat, maybe twice a week. I think about fruit & (lite) whipped cream all the time. I eat yogurt every day. I’ve lost those stubborn 5 lbs that I couldn’t seem to lose for 4 years. I want to lose 20 more, but that will come. My brain has changed it’s way of thinking. Now if I could just get rid of the wrinkles.
